It is undeniably refreshing to find a truly unique trim. The chalk raffia squares, or "steps," are flanked on either side by the loveliest shade of tawny brown threading to create this ladder trim. Stitch the outer edges of the trim into the seam allowances on either side of a seam to create an openwork effect. Or, stitch this "ladder" directly on top of your fabric so the background fabric peeks through the squares.
