Most things 70s-inspired grab our attention! The re-issue of this vintage McCall's pattern was certainly the impetus for creating this blouse. Now to find just the right fabric and trim combination! We found this lovely cloth on a shopping trip to Illumination Fine Fabrics in Fort Worth, Texas. Cross-weave linen is usually a fine choice, but especially so when woven into this delicious shade of mauve-purple. Matching it up with our new Arizona Sunset Trim was a natural choice, as the trim's metallic glimmer pops off the linen's matte finish. Creative license was taken to finish off the neckline with the addition of a binding in the front and back. To add stability and prevent strain on the trim from holding up the sleeves and bodice, we added a shoulder strap about an inch and a half wide just under the sleeve squares. If you decide to sew this pattern, you will definitely know of what we speak. Hand stitching is a favorite around here, so we chose this method to apply the lace. You could certainly stitch it on by machine as well. The plan is to pair this top with white cropped jeans and clogs. We hope you enjoy our nod to the 70s!
