Striped and Piped

Striped and Piped

So. Much. Piping! This crisp cotton blouse is adorned with hand-made mini piping tucked into most of its seams and edges. We adore this petite cording because of how subtly it lies, and also its flexibility: seams can move freely instead of sitting stiffly as they would with chunkier cording. When choosing a pattern, it was a must to play up the stripes by using them in a variety of directions. Sam's Blouse (#623) from Silhouette Patterns was the choice, with its front and back yokes and side insets. Horizontal, diagonal, and vertical stripes run the body of the blouse and stripes on the diagonal were cut for the piping. A designated "piping foot" makes easy work of creating this custom trim. The original pattern was modified a bit by adding a little tie at the neck, then cropping and curving the hemline. Bonus: the cute little plant tag in the back which pairs perfectly. Add a pair of white jeans and kelly-green sandals and off we go!
