Miles of Mini Piping

Miles of Mini Piping

Sometimes it's the fabric, sometimes it's the pattern, and sometimes it's the trim that gets a project rolling! This day, we found ourselves at the Silhouette Pattern fabric shop in Dallas, where the new "Sam's Shirt" pattern piqued our interest. As if meant to be, the perfect crisp cotton shirting sat propped up along a wall. And it had stripes! This shirt pattern has many pieces, and therefore many opportunities to use stripes in all directions. The cutting of the front pieces, the front placket, and the sleeves were planned out with this in mind. Adding the homemade mini piping between the seams and around the edges just added to the fun (a piping presser foot was a big help in sewing the piping). A bit of creative license was taken by adding the tie at the neck and cropping the shirt a few inches. Our houseplant label was the perfect finishing touch. Now, we'll just add a white linen or denim trouser and a pair of grass-green sandals to complete the look. Perfect for the next summer shindig!
